A worktop that charges, then goes flat again

The PP110M3 is a hydraulic pop-up socket for kitchen islands, breakfast bars, meeting tables and worktops where a fixed outlet would break the surface. Press the lid and the column rises; press again and it locks down level with the worktop. Between uses the surface is a plain worktop with no sockets, no cables and nothing to wipe around.

It carries three universal power outlets, one USB-A port and one USB-C port for fast charging, and an 18W wireless charging pad in the lid. That combination covers the two things that actually happen on a kitchen island: a phone placed down while cooking, and an appliance or laptop that needs a cable.

Universal outlets matter in a kitchen more than in an office: a visitor's phone charger, a UK appliance and an EU blender can all be plugged in without an adapter, which is why this configuration is common in serviced apartments and holiday lets.

Designed for a wet worktop

IP44 covers splashing water from any direction, which is the realistic exposure on a kitchen island: a rinsing tap, a spilled glass, a wet cloth. The column is aluminium alloy with PVC components, and the lid is sealed against the housing when the unit is closed.

Installation is a single round cut-out in the worktop. The unit drops in from above and fixes from below, so the worktop can be stone, solid surface or timber; the wiring is brought up through the same opening. Because the lift is hydraulic rather than motorised, there is no actuator to fail and no power needed just to open the socket.

Wireless charging on the lid

The 18W pad sits in the centre of the lid, so the phone charges while the socket is closed. That is the difference between a pop-up socket that gets used and one that stays shut: the most common charging action on a kitchen island needs no opening at all.

Does it need power to open?
